The development of the Skipper property is going to effect Scotts Hill in a very negitive way. I only hope that enough people from Scott's Hill get together like they did to fight the development by Landcraft for the PD rezoning and help with making sure that the commercial part of the Skipper development (Scott's Hill Village) gets the same attention. This is a VERY large retail development being sold as a medical complex. In reality the medical part of this rezoning request from R-15 & R-20 will only be a VERY SMALL part of this complex. This deal is nothing more then a huge retail shopping complex second to Mayfair. Talk about traffic problems. Please give this your attention also, even though it may not be close to your home in Scott's Hill, but it will be close to other Scott's Hill home owners residents. As we heard before with the Landcraft deal..."WE MUST STICK TOGETHER IN ORDER TO FIGHT FOR WHAT IS RIGHT FOR OUR Scott's Hill.
I truely believe that the development of the Skipper property or SCOTT'S HILL VILLAGE will destroy the beautiful Scott's Hill that we know now. I'm not against development or building, but I do believe that they must be done correctly to fit into the surrounding nieghborhoods and the environmentally important area of Futch and Foy Creek Water Sheds. The developers of this project have not done that as of yet. They do try to paint a very pretty picture and luckely the New Hanover Co. Planning Dept. saw this and refused to approve it. The New Hanover Co. Commissioners also did not approve there plan either. The developers can come back in one year and reapply and try to rezone the Skipper Property (Dec. or Jan. of 2007) again just like Landcraft will do !!!
Please get involved and make the development in Scott's Hill be done CORRECTLY and not done for the fast Buck to be made.

I received an email from Jim Mullins on the proposed rezoning of the property right above Salem Woods. this is part of the property that they are putting the medical surgery place just over the new Hanover county line. They want to add more medical offices, retail, and restaurants. Remember, this will add more traffic on to Scott's Hill Loop Road. More than likely they will want to put in a road dumping on the Loop Road. There is a meeting at Scott's Hill Baptist Church on Thursday October 26th at 7:00 pm in the family life center. Please try to attend. This is a meeting from the developers just like Landcraft did for us.

This is a notice of a meeting at Scotts Hill Baptist Church Family Life Center. This is bad news if we all don't stand up and attend this meeting and all the meetings at the Planning Commission and County Commissioners meetings. Hopefully we can get people to rally for this like we rallied for the LandCraft development plans. They are submitting the same plans they had last year which would put a road behind Salem Woods and empty out onto Scotts Hill Loop Rd. THis road would be pulling traffic off of the very large shopping center they have planned along with a beautique hospital.

This is a New Hanover County project. We fought this last year and they denied it but they are now reapplying.

Time to rally the Scotts Hill troops again!! We can do it.

Spread the word. Forward this email to everyone.

      Thank you,

      Laurie Wierse

      Hi All,

The Star-News just called me. Someone had given them my name. So they'll be covering this. I told her my opinion was that a small medical facility was OK, but not all of the other development they want to do with it.

I talked with Jack Barto, CEO of the hospital. He told me if they get the land rezoned they will go ahead with an outpatient services facility and sell their land by Food Lion. Maybe a 60-70 bed hospital down the line. None of this would occur for at least 3 years due to having to complete what they're doing now. There still is not a certificate of need from the state.

So, check out www.ScottsHill.net and click on the plans. Also, add your comments on the blog. Roger's doing a great job with this website. Let's post comments there so more people can read them instead of just us on the email loop.

      MEETING POSTPONED!
SENCA requested that the New Hanover County Commissioners postpone the meeting until January 8th at 6:00 pm. Please put that date on your calendar and set aside the time to go to the meeting. Rumor has it that the doctors got word of all the flyers that have been passed out and the number of people planning on attending the meeting.
