I'd like to pass a little information along. Folks in Scotts Hill have been getting a flyer from a company called Rayjo concerning water hook up in Scotts Hill. The flyer advertises hook up services and estimates. The flyer states that water will be run in Scotts Hill shortly. I called Pender County Water Department (259-2649) and it's news to them. The lady with the Water Department did say however, that if the bond referendum passes this November, yes, we will be getting water but there is no timetable established as of yet. I also asked if homeowners can run their own pipes to the meter and yes, if you know what you are doing, an unlicensed plumber/do it yourselfer may do so. Caveat emptor!

Can you believe this doctor hiding out in Scotts Hill? Thank goodness we have a neighborhood that looks after each other.

I walked the Foy property today (12/19/06) there was a rig taking soil samples.I spoke with the owner of the rig who said he was taking 10 samples from the whole area.It appears as though they are still proceeding with the development.I think they have too much money invested already to drop the idea now.

The doctors have invested a lot of money in the Scott's Hill Village Project, but that is no reson why we can't have them scale back the size of this project. As I said from the beginning, Most people don't have a problem with a medical facility being built, but it is the retail section that we do not need in this area. The retail section is going to be built first and doctor offices will come as time passes. The hospital can be anywhere from 3 to 5 years down the road before any construction is started. In 5 years the county may change there minds AGAIN and want the annex hospital to be somewhere else. That would leave us with a RETAIL shopping center in our neighborhood. This isnothing more than a wolf in sheeps clothing. The hospital section will be darwfted by the retail section. I like to think of it as a Medical Theme Park.
If we can show up in numbers to voice our concerns about the size of the retail section we can get the size of the retail section to be REDUCED. We know we can't stop the development of the land, but it can be developed in a manner that is good for all, not just the developers financial interests.
Please come and support the us at the Commissioners Meeting on Jan 8th at 5:30 in the old County Courthouse, 2nd floor.
      Thanks, Jim
